Best Mobile Network For Video Streaming in UK

If you do not have a landline broadband or fibre internet connection and still need to video stream your church or any other event online, then as my last post demonstrated, you can use your mobile phones 3G/4G data connection.

Video streaming uses a lot of bandwidth, so for a one off event, it might not be a problem, but if you have to do it on a regular basis, then it might be very expensive unless you find the right mobile network contract/bundle that fits your need.

Currently (Nov 2013), I have found that the best option if you have adequate coverage (you can try a PAYG SIM first) is using the Three One Plan which offers either a 1 month rolling or 12 month contract, but more importantly unlimited data which can also be tethered to a PC. This makes it ideal for video streaming and since you will be uploading a single stream of between 2-5Mps you shouldn't really have much problems.

As I mentioned earlier you need to test your individual location to ensure you have adequate coverage and bandwidth during the times you intend to stream your event, as I did in Wembley, but this deal is the best available currently, and the price is definately affordable with you not having to worry about a large monthly bill or being cut off during an event because you have exceeded your allowance.

Three is also planning on introducing 4G in Dec 2013 at no extra cost, which means you could enjoy better connections for HD streaming (your equipment allowing of course).

I would be interested in hearing from any of you who stream on a regular basis using the mobile phone network, even if you are using a dongle as opposed to tethering via a phone.
